In late 2025, the Red Deer Community lost one of our own, Steve Tanner. Steve was an original member of the SwingTime AllStars, and was a huge contributor to the beginning of the Red Deer Community for Jazz Music. From 2022-2025, Steve was the primary bass player at the SwingTime AllStar jam – his consistent presence and enthusiasm was instrumental in the development of the program into a monthly concert series.

One of the reasons for the creation of the Red Deer Community for Jazz Music is to document and preserve the stories of the people who have helped build our community. When people pass on, they leave behind a collection of stories that are all too easily forgotten. However, some of us will never forget.

For those who want to remember, we sincerely hope that you enjoy this video compilation of two songs in memory of Steve Tanner:

There’s No You / Polkadots and Moonbeams
